Avrupa Parlamentosu Turkiye raporu 8 Mart'ta tartısilip, 9 Mart'ta uygulanacak. Bu rapora cok surpriz bir sekilde Hollandali Sosyalist Emine Bozkurt’un verdigi basortusu teklifi 37’e karşı 31 oyla kabul edilerek girdi. (2006 yilinda is yasaminda basortusu yasaginin ayrimci yonu yer almisti ancak Leyla Sahin kararı gerekce gosterilerek eğitim hayatindan bahsedilmemisti. Su anki teklifte universitelerde basortusu sorununun kadinlarin ozgur tercihine birakilmasşi gerektigi ifade ediliyor)
Ancak Ria Oomen Ruijten bundan mutlu olmadigini soyledi. Raporda Türkiye raportoru Ria Oomen-Ruijten. O yüzden oldukca etkili biri ve raporun son oylamasina kadar basortusu kisminin cikmasi icin calisabilir. Kendisinine e-mektup yagmuruna tutmak bu konuda onem arz ediyor.
Kendisine bununla ilgili mail gondermek isterseniz, buna iliskin haberi ve bana gonderilen bir metni sizinle paylasmak istedim. Bu muhtemel mektupta artik sonunda Avrupa Parlementosunda bu konunun yer almasindan duyulan memnuniyet ifade edilip kendisinen de buna destek olunmasi istegi yer aliyor.

Dear Ms. Oomen-Ruijten,
We understand that a draft for a resolution on Turkey ’s 2010 Progress Report prepared by you will be put to voting on March 9th, 2011. As newspapers widely reported, we were pleased to witness that the headscarf issue has been, finally, included in the report after the deliberations in the Foreign Affairs Committee.
However, we also read in the reports with concern and disappointment that you were reluctant to have a reference to the headscarf issue in Turkey . It seems a bit incomprehensible for us to see a European who has been fighting for the religious freedoms of minorities –which we fully support- is turning a blind eye on the problems of a majority regarding freedom of religion.
We kindly ask you to keep the reference to the headscarf issue in the report which hopefully will help with solving this violation of freedom of religion in all the universities. As you rightly expressed on numerous occasions there is not one single European university in which headscarf is banned including your country, the Netherlands.We would like to see this happen in Turkey as well.
Ms. Oomen-Ruijten, we urge you to keep the reference to this pivotal issue in the report which we consider as an important step to solving the problem.
